Service provider disclosure
This page states plainly what our service is, what our relationship with electricians is, and how we are paid.

We are a connection service, not a contractor
Hire Local Electrician is a free referral and connection service. We are not an electrical contractor. We do not hold an electrical contractor license, we do not employ electricians, and we do not perform, supervise, manage, or inspect electrical work of any kind.
Electricians are independent businesses
Every electrician reached through this service is an independent business operating on its own account. Each one:
- sets its own prices and provides its own quotes;
- holds its own license and insurance;
- provides its own warranty and guarantee terms;
- schedules its own work and sets its own availability;
- is solely responsible for the work it performs.
When you engage an electrician reached through this service, the agreement is between you and that electrician. We are not a party to it. We do not handle payment, hold deposits, or take a percentage of any invoice.
How we are compensated
Our service is free to you. We may receive a referral fee from participating electricians when we connect them with a customer. This is how the service is funded.
This fee is paid by the electrician, not by you, and it does not increase the price you are quoted for the work.
What we verify
Before an electrician can receive work through the network, we verify that they hold a valid license in the state where they work, that they carry current general liability insurance, and that the ZIP codes they list are ones they actually serve. We monitor complaints and customer feedback and remove electricians who do not meet our standards.
These checks reduce risk. They do not eliminate it, and they are not a guarantee of the quality, timeliness, or outcome of any particular job. We recommend that you independently confirm an electrician's license number with the issuing state authority, request evidence of current insurance, and obtain the scope and price in writing before substantial work begins.
No guarantee of work
We make no representation or warranty regarding the work performed by any electrician reached through this service. We do not guarantee outcomes, response times, pricing, or workmanship. Any warranty is provided by the electrician directly and is a matter between you and them.
Coverage representations
We serve 19,778 ZIP codes across all 50 states. Coverage depth varies by area, and in some states it is concentrated around particular metropolitan areas rather than being uniform statewide. The ZIP code checker reflects the current position for any given address.
A ZIP code shown as covered on this site means that at least one electrician in our network has confirmed they serve that ZIP code. It is not a guarantee that an electrician will be available at any particular time.
Licensing and permits
Electrical licensing is regulated at state level and, in some states, at county or municipal level. Permit requirements are set locally and vary. Your electrician is responsible for holding the appropriate license and for obtaining any permits required for the work.
Questions
If anything on this page is unclear, ask us when you call. If you have a complaint about an electrician reached through this service, tell us as well as them. Complaints inform whether an electrician stays in the network.
